Just Like a Woman (live from Sunday afternoon)

This is one of my favorite Dylan songs (ever). I just received the I’m Not There soundtrack in the mail, two hearty discs of smooth sorrow and meaningful melodies, including a generous dose of tender Dylan covers. I enjoyed Charlotte Gainsbourg’s version of ‘Just Like A Woman’, but listening made me thirsty for the real deal (no one does it quite like BD). Wiki (a reliable source if I ever used one) writes of the song, “Dylan wrote this ballad on Thanksgiving Day 1965 while touring in Kansas City. It was allegedly inspired by New York socialite Edie Sedgwick, who frequented Andy Warhol‘s Factory at around the same time Dylan was introduced to Warhol and had a tendency to catch the attention of musicians.”

She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl

Alas, please—taste the sweet beat of Dylan a la 1966.
