I received an early Christmas gift from my guy — a bundle of Adobe Creative Suite goodness! I’ve been working exclusively in Illustrator from my laptop for the past few years, so needless to say I’m THRILLED and have been creating up a storm. Thanks C for all you do.

no sleep till barclays

For the first time since construction was completed in late September, I took a stroll past Barclays Center. It’s about a 15 minute walk from my apartment, the new home of the Brooklyn Nets, frequent performances by Jay-Z, and a monstrosity of a stadium. There’s been much anticipation — and even more controversy — about Barclays Center (this documentary will tell you all about it), and I’m interested to see if locals will take a liking to it anytime soon.

hang with me

LAST NIGHT my roommates and I had over several fantastic acquaintances we met last weekend while out at a local bar. They showed up to our place with instruments in tow — guitars, ukeleles, tambourines, harmonicas, shakers, sticks, even a cowbell — for a full-on jam session. We ordered pizza and cracked beers, played board games and shared company as though longtime companions.

What I haven’t felt, or realized, in some time is how good music feels. The kind of bandage and bond it harbors, the freedom and honesty it beholds. I believe we all felt it, and I am so happy we all can call each other friends.

A small, raw recording of us performing a cover of Robyn’s “Hang with Me” —

For a few more jams, check this out.
