“…you don’t realize how amazing [New York] is until you leave. [New York] is so awesome and crazy and it’s the perfect place if you’re 21–25; you can go out dancing and then it’s 4am and you’re at some after-hours thing. But then you turn 28 and the kind of social life you’re interested in has less to do with 4am party nights and more to do with marathoning Breaking Bad and learning how to make fancy cocktails at home.”

Designers rejoice! Louise Fili’s Elegantissima has made a grand entrance into the world, complete with stunning type and years worth of design masterpieces from the legend herself.

I can never, ever forgive my parents for having the bad judgment to leave Italy and come to America. The final indignity was that I was born in New Jersey and had to spend the rest of my life getting as far away as possible from the Garden State. My first trip to Italy was a typographic and gastronomic epiphany: quite simply, everything looked, tasted, and sounded better in Italian.

industry of one

I’ve taken a loving to these gorgeous interviews with young creatives by Industry of One. It’s very inspiring to see how others work + live, and the paths they take (including obstacles) to find themselves through their 20’s and beyond…

The styles are beautiful [in L.A.]. People have their own trends and their own authentic swagger, but it’s not what I gravitate toward. Maybe if I was born and raised there, I would have warmed to it. I admire it, but I’m detached from it. I’m very visual. When I’m in New York, I walk down the street and find myself complimenting everybody. I like when people put things together because they felt like it, not because they wanted to impress someone. You can always tell when someone is dressing for other people, but I just love when people dress for themselves.

Instagram Roundup // Week One

Instagram has become an integral part of my daily routine, and I love checking up on my feed to see who’s posting what (and where)! I generally keep a record of which photos I really adore over time, and I’m hoping I can keep up with sharing which Instagrams — and their ‘grammers — I really admire.
Enjoy my first round of ‘grams, all from this past week!

Anthropologie features this montage on their homepage showing how to take one look from summer to fall/winter. I love this idea — one dress for every season, with the addition of layers. Something to think about when living in hot (soon to be chilly, then cold) New York.
