San Francisco

COMING TO YOU LIVE FROM SAN FRANCISCO!

Sitting at the dining room table next to the one and only Estelle Emery, who is currently doing her homework. Mother Amy making dinner in kitchen, some sort of culinary extravaganza. Dogs Sparty (Sparticus) and Auggie (Augustus) are curled up on the floor. To my right, the sun has gone down over the bay and the lighthouse at Alcatraz is swirling its search beam. Marin headlands are hazy in the distance, and the water is calm save one tiny boat tugging along. Along the coast, Fisherman’s Wharf is beginning to light up neon hues of red and blue.
The glory is, I get to be here until Friday! Inhaling fresh air throughout each day…
My parents received a new puppy today…a baby sheltie! She’s BEAUTIFUL! So shy and kind, gentle and well-mannered. She has no name yet, so stay tuned for much more about her and some heart-melting photos!
A JOLLY Christmas to ALL!

THE LAST 48 HOURS HAVE BEEN MAYHEM. On Friday evening—the calm before the storm—I looked through my planner toward the weekend. Two hours to myself.

So it went: Morning/afternoon grocery shift, 15 minutes to get to my clients’ site for an overnight, then spending a solid 24 hours on the clock with them. I figured being on duty would be beneficial to my sleep schedule: They’d be in bed early, I’d be in bed early, everyone would be rested. Nada. Sleep at 3:30am…awakened at 6.
Released from the 24-hour shift, I had an hour and a half to clean myself up before pulling a closing shift at the g-store.
I showered. I saw my bed. I thought, “I’m going to take a little cat nap before work.” I overslept.
And made it to work 20 minutes late. But, it was worth it. I’m exhausted. Thirty-six of the last 38 hours I’ve been clocked in.
TOMORROW is a “me” day! No work. Just shopping and preparing for Christmas and my upcoming trip (which I can’t stop talking or thinking about), cleaning and tying up other loose ends. I might sleep in and get a nice coffee in the morning and run errands. That’s my favorite kind of busy day!
I’m disappointed in myself for not accomplishing half or even a few of the things I had planned for this month—starting new projects, making things, photographing, cooking, baking, going out, etc. I’m searching for the time to find relaxation. There’s always next year or tomorrow and not everything is disheartening. I had an excellent school semester that I worked to achieve. With those months and projects and classes now aside, I can conquer other things!
I hope everyone is wonderful. I miss familiar people and traditions. I really am longing for warmth right now—inside and out.
Take care, be well
