an ocean, the careful, deep layers holding
at least complementing sun
From a Saturday at Rockaway Beach.
From a Sunday afternoon at Rockaway Beach with cheeseburgers, dolphins, cold water and laying on a towel until the wind picked up and sun started to recede.
Beach day — amazing to be in the sun, to take it slow, to feel warm, to taste saltwater, to be pummeled by waves, to swim as far as possible, to have sand stuck to skin and skin stuck to a soggy towel.
Beautiful day of life.
Another beach day — I can’t complain.
My sister Heidi came to visit me for nearly a week — I showed her about the city as best I could!
My favorite day we spent together was at Rockaway Beach. We laid our sheet too close to the water, and eventually the tide washed us out. It was comical to wash off the sand, wring out the water, and attempt to air dry the sheet before we headed back home (Heidi told me I would never survive in the wild.)
